the ultimate

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

n the ten years that I have been wakeboarding I have ridden a lot of different wakeboards. Ranging from all shapes to all sizes. And also a ton of different bindings. And this is literally the most amazing set up I have ever ridden. The board is based off of an older model of the Absolute. It rides like how I feel a wakeboard should ride. No gimmicks or ridiculous stuff thrown on it to make it sell. It’s just an amazing shape. So fast with amazing pop and some of the softest landings ever. And also the Marius boots that they just made are the best boots I have ridden. I always had a problem with boots that are made like a snowboard boot. And the problem was that you couldn’t ever get them tight enough because there was just to much foam and fabric. And also in the heel are it constantly fell like I couldn’t get my foot all the way down because there was so much material there as well. And they always had heel lift. These don’t have any of those problems. And they have a lower lace that seriously pull your ankle directly into the back of the boot holding it perfectly. I couldn’t believe it the first time I ever tried them on to be honest. So amazing. It is probably one of the greatest things that has ever been put on a binding. The Pure wakeboard and Marius boot by CWB.

Another Week in Texas

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

On Monday, the 14th, the iwake team flew to Texas to begin shooting our team video. We were all stoked to get out there, and to find out what the plan for the vid was. Meeting us out there was Spencer Norris and Adam Burwell, the guys picked to film and edit the video. I’ve worked with Spencer Norris before, so was stoked to have the chance to work with him again on this project. He definitely has the creative eye it takes to make a wake vid different than the norm. Meeting us also was Spencer Smith, with the job of documenting the trip and future trips for WBM. Unfortunately for everyone, the weather was anything but perfect all week, ruining any chances of getting some shooting done. It did give everyone a chance to coordinate the upcoming filming trips and get stoked on the chance to travel the world. Some of the locations will be New Zealand, Mexico, and others with amazing backdrops and perfect lakes. After the week in Dallas, I took off to TSR for the weekend for some cable riding. TSR is one of my favorite cable parks, and did not disappoint this trip. Finally I conquered my fear of a switch s-bend to blind, so that pretty much made the trip for me. But then the unthinkable happened, I took a gnarly fall, and all I could feel was the pain in my knee! That was last weekend, and still I’m having trouble walking. Went to a doctor, and luckily no ligament damage, but not sure about the meniscus. He put me on some anti-inflammatory pills and wished me luck. I’ll keep you updated on any occurrences, hopefully it’ll go smoothly and I can find myself back at TSR in no time.

Weight

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

In the past, we figured having products that fit well and rode well were first on the list of priorities for a solid product line.  We have had that dialed for years so turned our attention to weight for 2010.

You are looking at a board package that weighs less than a blank board from three years ago.  Say hello to the 2010 Vibe and Answer package….and in this photo, you can almost see mine.

Building Winches is Fun! and Frustrating

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I recently began construction on my very own winch, which has now turned into a roller coaster ride of a project thats hopefully nearing its end.  It began when I found an old 8hpr honda  off a broke down concrete mixer,  some scrap metal, other thrown together parts, and about 600 ft of spectra rope conviently provided by CWB wakeboards and Pro Line, with great appreciation. It all came together with the help of a fellow local  skate shredder Zack Pennington and his metal fabricating father Dan P. Its been a trial and error project for the past few days trying to get all of the kinks worked out, but when your dealing with old parts off of lawn mowers and disasembled garage doors, there can be alot of kinks, trust me. After having repeated issues with getting the clutch working and the belt tight enough, we finally got a decent pull out of it today on a backroad canal that has now become our winch test lab. And did i mention all my costs so far has totaled at $120, including the engine, beat that grinch.

Clinic Series Time!

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

As the new gear begins to pour in, we are in the planning stages of a new clinic series to instruct you as well as make you remember why we make fun of everyone else.

As much fun as it is…it is headaches in the editing bay.
