The Good Vibe Tour continues – CWB Moving Thru OZland

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Rowdy cricket match in Sydney last night. Rolling about 20 Aussies deep, it was anything but boring. Thanks to dean smith for setting that up. And also thanks to the Wing family for hosting us while in Sydney.

After taking care of business and visiting the board shops in Sydney, Justin and I now continue the VIBE tour up north. Flying to Cairns tonight. Meeting up with Sam “Bo Bo” Collins and invading his territory.

Meet Mandy Kapton the winner of Wake Mag’s & CWB Feb. Chicks Contest

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Meet Mandy Kapton, the winner of WAKEBOARDING magazine’s February 2010 Chicks Contest. This 23-year-old model and grad student has beauty and brains — all she needs is a boat. She recently relocated to Honolulu for school, and she’s looking for a few good rippers to ride with in between her stints on the runway.

How long have you been riding? On and off for three years.

How did you get into wakeboarding? What else, a boy.

What’s your favorite place to ride? Well, I’m reppin’ Pittsburgh. Conneaut Lake all damn day! Seriously, though, anywhere I can I’m down to go.

What boat do you ride behind? I’m a poor college girl, so no boat. Whoever will take me out with whatever they have.

What’s your current setup? Well, I’m about to ride new CWB bindings, and I’m looking for a new Gator Board.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a wakeboard? Butter slide, baby.

What do you do for a living? I model for More Models in Honolulu and I’m in grad school.

How long have you been modeling and what kind of modeling have you done? Since I was 17, so over six years now. I’ve done a lot of runway, but print and informal modeling as well. All different types of clients from Louis Vuitton to Sony to Neiman Marcus.

Where and what are you studying in grad school? I’m going to the University of Hawaii in the fall. I’m in the MS program in Kinesiology and Rehab Science for athletic training.

Who’s your favorite wakeboarder? Honestly, anyone that loves to board, even if they suck! That’s the key — just doing what you love. But if you can make money from it, then you got it made!

Clay Fletcher’s WBM Cover & Mobile Direct Video

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Brand-new CWB signee Clay Fletcher wasted little time repping his new board brand. Fletcher’s sick 270 to switch front board on his new CWB Vibe wakeboard scored the cover of WAKEBOARDING mag’s April 2010 issue. What’s more, Clay’s cover is the first to feature WBM’s Mobile Direct, which allows readers with video-enabled mobile devices to scan a barcode and instantly see the video you see here on their phones.

If you look closely, you will see brain matter as my head exploded while working on this. OK, that was a bit gross. Whatever, titles suck.

OZ Winch Mission

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Only been in OZ land for two days and we are already winching. I love it. They are on it over here. Thanks to Penrith cable operator and good friend Earl Ball we were winching in no time. As soon as I arrived, Earl called up local wakeskater Stu, who owned the only winch that we knew of in the area. Stu had built his winch from scratch, and what a fine job he did. We also grabbed Shawn Watson who had just arrived in the country and was super keen to winch with us, and off we went to shred. The spot was a waterfall along the Penrith river (only 10 min from the cable park). Shawn and i found a little ledge at the top edge of the water fall. It was not long enough to slide but it was just right for a jib and drop. The landing area was a little sketchy at the bottom and close to a concrete slab, but we put the game faces on and did work. Making it happen in oz. Good day. No photos of myself or Watson. But we got video and you will prob see it soon here at ridecwb.com, but until then here are some pretty crappy photos I took of local wakeskaters. Goodday mate!!!

Australia is feelin’ the VIBE

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I am so excited to be here in Australia, But what is just as crazy is how many people are riding my board. I have been riding the cable here in Penrith (outside of Sydney) for the last few days and I have seen my board all over the place. It is pretty crazy to see people riding my board on the other side of the world. So good to see a positive reaction. Here is a picture of a Penrith local (Chris Flaxman) with his board of choice, the CWB VIBE. Just one of the many satisfied customers.

Clay Fletcher Shreds the March Cover of WBM!!!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Clay Fletcher shreds the cover of the March copy of Wakeboarding Magazine!!! Clay is night sessioning the 2010 Vibe Flex at the Projects.

Another very cool feature is the bar code included on the cover. Download “Microsoft Tag Reader” a free app in the iPhone App store, take a pic of the bar code with your iPhone, and it will automatically play a “Behind the Scenes” video of Clay when the photo was taken. It is a “first in publishing” and a first in wake marketing tech!!!

Support Haiti With Ride For Relief

RFRLogo

With over 200,000 people dead, another 1.2 million homeless and Port-au-Prince in ruins, Haitians are suffering in ways that we can’t imagine. Personally, I feel a strong moral obligation to help these people who literally have lost everything except maybe hope. With the wakeboard industry being such a tightly knit and privileged community, I feel like it is time for us to come together and provide some relief to the suffering occurring in Haiti. Of course, there are ways for us to help those in need and still have a great time while doing it.

With that being said, the Orlando Watersports Complex will be open to everybody from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on February 20th. You all can come out and ride the cable, hang out with the pros, enjoy some music and help us raise money for a worthy cause. Make sure you bring everyone you know. The more people the better.

Pro riders scheduled to appear include…

* Shaun Murray
* Chad Sharpe
* Trevor Hanson
* JD Webb
* Nick Davies
* Erik Ruck
* Phil Soven
* Jeff House
* Nicola Butler
* Dieter Humpsch
* Stu Shinn
* Andrew Pastura
* and many more

For those of you who are 21 and up, there will also be an after party in downtown Orlando at The Other Bar on Wall Street. With Ryan Davis and Kevin Little from Step Up Productions hosting the party and Bong Vodka contributing to the festivities, this will be an evening that you won’t want to miss.

To help ensure the success of this fundraiser, we are asking for a minimum donation of $20 per person for the entire evening. This will include your riding and entertainment at OWC, as well as the opportunity to attend the after party at The Other Bar (assuming you are 21 and up). This, however, will not cover your bar tab at the end of the night, but with Bong Vodka’s assistance, it should be somewhat reduced.

All of the proceeds from Ride for Relief will be donated to Habitat for Humanity with the purpose of building homes in Haiti. These homes are being erected for $2500 and providing this type of long term relief is one of the most important things that we can do for these families in helping them restore their lives. As a community of riders and friends, lets see how many of these homes we can build.

For those of you who are unable to make it to Ride for Relief, but still would like to contribute, please go to the Ride for Relief Donation Page and help us raise money to build these homes.

If you are interested, you can also join the Ride for Relief team, become an advocate for Habitat for Humanity and help us raise more money by asking your friends and family for donations. Go to the Ride for Relief Team Page for more information.

As a community, we are very powerful and have the ability to pool our resources to make this one of the most effective fundraisers that wakeboarding has ever seen. There are families that are relying on our assistance, so let’s pull them from the rubble and help them get back on their feet.

There are more and more developments every day for this event, so keep checking the event description on the Ride for Relief Event Page on Facebook for the most up to date information on what’s going on.

Nick Jones and Kirby Liesman session the Daytona 500

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Centurion has their sponsorship hand in the NASCAR cookie jar, so every year you can find them entertaining the crowd on the infield lake with a small group of riders behind Centurion boats. This year’s rider line up included CWB’s Kirby Leisman and Nick Jones. It’s not the same as being there, but we captured some riding and some of the Daytona 500 experience on video for you.

If you want to win the board and boots all you have to do is guess the date we will have our kid. I will narrow it down for you by saying that our due date is in April. To submit your guess go to TrevorHansen.com and click on contact send me a message with your guess and you are entered. If a bunch of people guess the right date I will randomly pick a winner. I will post the winner on the site after I get over the excitement of having a new born baby. Limit to one guess per person. Thanks to CWB for letting me give stuff away. Good luck everyone!
