Meet Megan Heitman Wakemag/CWB Chicks contest winner!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Megan Heitman was picked as the May/June WAKEBOARDING magazine Chicks contest winner! Check out her photos above and don’t forget to upload your July photos here! Check out the rest of the May/June competition here.

We caught up with Megan for a quick interview, check it out.

How long have you been riding? I’ve been riding about four years. I mostly wakeskate, but with the new bindings I’m definitely going to start wakeboarding. I just need a board now!

What kind of wakeboard boat do you have? We have a Malibu Wakesetter, 24 or 25-foot I think. It’s awesome.

What do you do for a living? I’m a Respiratory Therapist. I take care of people with asthma or COPD, I give them breathing treatments, and ventilators or life support. Basically, I work in health care.

What does it mean to win the WBM Chicks Contest? It means a lot. I’m ecstatic, and I never thought I could win something that cool. It was the easiest competition I ever won, all I had to do was enter.

Cool, anything else to add? I love WAKEBOARDING magazine!

GOOD VIBES TOUR OZ “winching the jungle”

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Cairns, Australia is more beautiful than you could imagine. Mountains, waterfalls, rain forest, tropical waters, and the Great Barrier Reef. Amongst all this land runs many fresh rivers. With the local crew we took the one and only Cairns winch out into the unknown and charged it. The winch was a little “under the weather” so to speak but we still went out into the wild and had a go. It was an exciting day to say the least. Thanks to Sam Collins, Clayton, and the rest of the boys for the good times and navigation.

Triple up! CWB gives you 3 ways to WIN WIN WIN!!!

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Yup – that’s right, 3 ways to win a truck load of gear. In the month of March, we are serving up Andrew Adkison, Gabe Lucas, and Clay Fletcher’s rides for you to score! It’s easy. Click on the riders pics below and fill out the forms. That’s it! No gimmicks, games, or spending a half of a day making a podcast. A podcast you say? We know you’re busy! Some companies like you to make silly videos about their products to win stuff. I guess they don’t have the time to make videos themselves. We have lots of videos. We make all our own videos w/ our pro riders, so you don’t have to. But I regress.

In case you want to watch a video about the products we are giving away, I’ve posted them for your viewing pleasure.

Ok – I lied, Andrew’s clinic isn’t done yet, you can blame Steve Bates for that. But here is Andrew being funny which is more interesting to watch than this podcast.

CWB inks rail-king-banjo-legend-man-bearded Clay Fletcher & win his Ride!

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

In an effort to expand our rail team, CWB is excited about a deal made with Georgia hippie Clay Fletcher. Clay is a fixture at The Projects in Orlando as where he operates the System 2.0, he is also a part of Cable Wake Parks. Clay will be riding Gabe Lucas’s ABS edge slider board, the Vibe. When asked about the Vibe, Clay mumbled something about pizza tacos and how the board was amazing. We concur. Many feel the Vibe is the first flex category board that excels on the wake as well as on the rails. Clay seems to agree. Look for Clay to make an appearance in many of CWB-TV’s episodes this season. “Not only does he have a beard, he can play the banjo. It’s a win-win.” Says team manager Steve Bates. Keep your eyes to the web to catch Clay and Gabe on the cable tour as well as winch tour across the country. Summer is just around the corner. Prepare yourself.

Don’t forget you can win Clay Fletcher’s ride over at Wakeboarding Mag!!!

Finally getting my wakeboard blog up! Less than a week before I head to Abu Dhabi for the first World Tour stop. Been riding everyday getting ready. Stoked to travel outside North America for the first time in my life, figured Abu Dhabi would be a good place to start. Planning on updating photos and videos before the trip so the site will be looking good. Also, Nascar Daytona 500 vid coming soon!

Meet Amanda Scholz, the winner of wakeboardingmag.com/CWB’s Chicks Contest

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Meet Amanda Scholz, the winner of wakeboardingmag.com’s November Chicks Contest. When this 24-year-old personal trainer from Sunnyvale, California, isn’t working people out, she loves to ride the glassly sloughs of The Delta. We recently caught up with the NorCal hottie to find out how she got into wakeboarding and what’s up with those tattoos.

How long have you been wakeboarding? Since 2004.

How’d I get into it? I have always enjoyed action sports whether it be wakeboarding, motocross or snowboarding. But I was introduced to wakeboarding by an old friend.

Where do you ride? I’m a sucker for The Delta. Up here in Northern California, we’re blessed by the miles of buttery Delta sloughs. My favorite place to ride on The Delta is just outside of Isleton and Rio Vista. It’s not crowded and you don’t have to deal with all the tubers or the crazy drivers. It’s usually just our boat and maybe two or three others. I feel so spoiled.

What boat do you ride behind? I ride behind my 2000 MasterCraft X-Star. What an awesome boat to ride behind! It’s nice though to ride behind other boats too though. They all put out a different wake, which can only help make you a better rider.

What’s your current setup? I was lucky enough to have Melissa Marquardt personally autograph my ’08 Liquid Force Melissa board and bindings setup.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a wakeboard? Going wake to wake. The feeling of catching air is crazy! I also recently got into wakeskating, which is a whole other adventure in itself. 180s are so fun and so easy. I always try to do something new to challenge myself, whether it be attempting a trick or trying to get better at something I am already comfortable doing. The last time I tried doing something new though, I ended up with a pretty serious concussion. But as they say, “Go big, or go home. No pain, no gain.”

What do you do for a living? I’m a personal trainer. I love changing people’s lives through fitness and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

What can you tell us about the tattoos? Oh, tattoos — so addicting. The one on my foot is in memory of my dad. My ribs say, “Thou Shall Not Be Fearful.” I feel like you really shouldn’t be fearful of anything. Life will take care of you, and I think that living in fear isn’t exactly living at all. The one on my leg is for the mister. He proudly serves our country in the military, and I felt it was right to honor him and what he does for our country.

You look pretty comfortable modeling. Ever done any modeling before? Actually I haven’t. I have always wanted to be a model since I was a little girl, especially for the action sports industry. It’s such a dream to me, and I still would love to do it. To me, I think that if you’re going to model for the action sports industry, it’d be icing on the cake if you participate in that sport as well. You know, TRULY represent the sport.

The Good Vibe Tour continues – CWB Moving Thru OZland

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Rowdy cricket match in Sydney last night. Rolling about 20 Aussies deep, it was anything but boring. Thanks to dean smith for setting that up. And also thanks to the Wing family for hosting us while in Sydney.

After taking care of business and visiting the board shops in Sydney, Justin and I now continue the VIBE tour up north. Flying to Cairns tonight. Meeting up with Sam “Bo Bo” Collins and invading his territory.

If you look closely, you will see brain matter as my head exploded while working on this. OK, that was a bit gross. Whatever, titles suck.

OZ Winch Mission

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Only been in OZ land for two days and we are already winching. I love it. They are on it over here. Thanks to Penrith cable operator and good friend Earl Ball we were winching in no time. As soon as I arrived, Earl called up local wakeskater Stu, who owned the only winch that we knew of in the area. Stu had built his winch from scratch, and what a fine job he did. We also grabbed Shawn Watson who had just arrived in the country and was super keen to winch with us, and off we went to shred. The spot was a waterfall along the Penrith river (only 10 min from the cable park). Shawn and i found a little ledge at the top edge of the water fall. It was not long enough to slide but it was just right for a jib and drop. The landing area was a little sketchy at the bottom and close to a concrete slab, but we put the game faces on and did work. Making it happen in oz. Good day. No photos of myself or Watson. But we got video and you will prob see it soon here at ridecwb.com, but until then here are some pretty crappy photos I took of local wakeskaters. Goodday mate!!!

Australia is feelin’ the VIBE

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I am so excited to be here in Australia, But what is just as crazy is how many people are riding my board. I have been riding the cable here in Penrith (outside of Sydney) for the last few days and I have seen my board all over the place. It is pretty crazy to see people riding my board on the other side of the world. So good to see a positive reaction. Here is a picture of a Penrith local (Chris Flaxman) with his board of choice, the CWB VIBE. Just one of the many satisfied customers.

Clay Fletcher Shreds the March Cover of WBM!!!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Clay Fletcher shreds the cover of the March copy of Wakeboarding Magazine!!! Clay is night sessioning the 2010 Vibe Flex at the Projects.

Another very cool feature is the bar code included on the cover. Download “Microsoft Tag Reader” a free app in the iPhone App store, take a pic of the bar code with your iPhone, and it will automatically play a “Behind the Scenes” video of Clay when the photo was taken. It is a “first in publishing” and a first in wake marketing tech!!!
