Cairns, Australia is more beautiful than you could imagine. Mountains, waterfalls, rain forest, tropical waters, and the Great Barrier Reef. Amongst all this land runs many fresh rivers. With the local crew we took the one and only Cairns winch out into the unknown and charged it. The winch was a little “under the weather” so to speak but we still went out into the wild and had a go. It was an exciting day to say the least. Thanks to Sam Collins, Clayton, and the rest of the boys for the good times and navigation.
Ok – I lied, Andrew’s clinic isn’t done yet, you can blame Steve Bates for that. But here is Andrew being funny which is more interesting to watch than this podcast.
Rowdy cricket match in Sydney last night. Rolling about 20 Aussies deep, it was anything but boring. Thanks to dean smith for setting that up. And also thanks to the Wing family for hosting us while in Sydney.
After taking care of business and visiting the board shops in Sydney, Justin and I now continue the VIBE tour up north. Flying to Cairns tonight. Meeting up with Sam “Bo Bo” Collins and invading his territory.
Only been in OZ land for two days and we are already winching. I love it. They are on it over here. Thanks to Penrith cable operator and good friend Earl Ball we were winching in no time. As soon as I arrived, Earl called up local wakeskater Stu, who owned the only winch that we knew of in the area. Stu had built his winch from scratch, and what a fine job he did. We also grabbed Shawn Watson who had just arrived in the country and was super keen to winch with us, and off we went to shred. The spot was a waterfall along the Penrith river (only 10 min from the cable park). Shawn and i found a little ledge at the top edge of the water fall. It was not long enough to slide but it was just right for a jib and drop. The landing area was a little sketchy at the bottom and close to a concrete slab, but we put the game faces on and did work. Making it happen in oz. Good day. No photos of myself or Watson. But we got video and you will prob see it soon here at ridecwb.com, but until then here are some pretty crappy photos I took of local wakeskaters. Goodday mate!!!
I am so excited to be here in Australia, But what is just as crazy is how many people are riding my board. I have been riding the cable here in Penrith (outside of Sydney) for the last few days and I have seen my board all over the place. It is pretty crazy to see people riding my board on the other side of the world. So good to see a positive reaction. Here is a picture of a Penrith local (Chris Flaxman) with his board of choice, the CWB VIBE. Just one of the many satisfied customers.

i competed at the “bulls, boardshorts, and bikinis” event last weekend in dallas,tx. it was a huge event for the dallas boatshow. always a good time. top pros in the country come to texas to sleigh some rails, ride the mechanical bull, and party. i had a good showing this year. got 2nd in the rail jam event, and second in the bull riding. i was so close to sweeping the thing. i could taste it. that would have been epic but i will take what i got. i had a blast and got paid son!! i want to thank bill geiger for always putting on stellar events, and just being a cool guy. thanks to everyone else that was there. good times
i just got back my old purple boat named barney. ohh how i have missed her. i have had this boat since 1999. pretty much learned behind her. best boat ever. solid as a rock. hate to see her in pain. but a shorted wire fried the starter and the ignition module one day. so the mission began. well i got a free starter from a good friend. that was a score. then some friends of mine rewired it no problem. another score. and usually the igition module is not really a big deal unless you have the corvette LT1. and you know barney is packin that LT1, that is why barney is such a hoss. but this was the big hit. the ignition module for the LT1 is a VERY specialty item. you can only get it from the indmar factory and it costs $1,000. so considering most ignition modules on cars cost about $150, this is a huge party foul. well to make along story short. i called a good friend at texas mastercraft. they got me the part at cost which was about half. huge score. well worth making a phone call. so the moral of the story is, do a little research, and its not what you know its who you know. people helping people is a beautiful thing. i am fortunate to have friends like i do. thanks
holla everyone. just wanted to say the new tar website is finished. my friend cody and i have been reconstructing and revamping for about a month. his technical web skills mixed with my design is what you got. check it out. it has way more content than before and has a total new look and feel. we got photos, blog, short videos, art, and a store. there will soon be a short video from our road trip to florida from texas. we met up with corey bradley in louisiana and rode private ponds behind a 4-wheeler. rukus103.com & tarfilms.com
this week aron, stefan, and i (along with photographers bear and bok) once again went out and conquered some new spots. after scouting san marcos, stefan and aron have once again came through with the goods. (how nice is it when multiple pearl winch spots are 5 min from your house.) anyway, once they found what they were looking for, they gave me a call, and it was on. the mission was to get some shots while bear was in town from florida. so for 3 days straight we pinned it. we hit everything from a new shopping center fountain, to the sm river rock pile, to the dunlap waterfall. it went off. lots of sun and fun. we were in winch mode. i love it. maybe you will see the shots in the mag. maybe you will see small video clips on tarfilms.com(our blog will be finished soon), or maybe the world will end tonight. whatever happens, keep riding. we spent about 5 bucks in gas for all three days total. cant beat it with a stick. i also want to say congrats to aron(tex) for being voted best wakeskater for wakeboardings magazines readers poll. but who expected anything less, especially after he moved out here to texas.
Holla from Texas. Spring is here. The sun has been out, and the water is warm and flat. lots of new stuff going on out here. Biggest news is that Aaron reed has moved out to Texas, just a few minutes from my house. He found him a Texas girl that he wants to marry, plus he just loves to ride and kick it out here. he is heavy into photography these days. Should have some quality shots coming out of this area by reed. its gonna be a good season. My friends and I are planning a trip to Port Aransas soon. 4wheeler + wakeboard/skate + shore break = lots of fun. Also Austin, TX rail jam event going down on Sunday April 6th. I will be there competing. If you are interested in coming out to watch search “the grind” online. it will be a party. Live music, food, bikinis, and riding from top locals. Thats all I got for now.
