Derek Grasman to appear on Stokemeter.com 6pm PST

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Did you know that Jeff House and myself have been roommates for five years now. Our fifth anniversary was on January 5th. So I guess you could call this our golden anniversary. Well tonight we are doing a Stokemeter together. If you don’t know what Stokemeter is it is basically a way for you to ask us any questions you want. We sit on a webcam and you guys can all ask us questions. So tonight go to www.Stokemeter.com at 9 p.m. and ask away. – Derek Grasman

Watch Derek Grasman in Hi Light by Spencer Norris

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Spencer and myself had an idea. An idea we wanted to share with you all. Last year Spencer Norris released Hi Light and now we decided we would release it for you for free. Section by section. Not all at once but every week or so release another section. This is my section. Which was frustrating to make since I had never been really injured or had to come back from an injury until then. If you really want to support us you can buy the video here: buy Hi Light

Meet Club 509 – Jimmy Trask, Derek Grasman, and Zane Schwenk

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Welcome to Club 506. Since almost the beginning of their pro careers, our CWB team riders on Lake Eloise in Winter Haven have been riding together. Derek Grasman, Jimmy Trask and Zane Schwenk are the definition of a “crew.” Check it out as they get into some mischief at Cypress Gardens and have some people over to shred with them and stay tuned for Part 2, coming soon.

my quiver

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

I always thought it was cool how in surfing each rider has a slew of different boards for different types of conditions. And now in waking I kind of have that. One board to shred the wake and then one to shred rails and getting my grindage on. Although both can be used to do either. I actually ride both of them on wake and rails. I just prefer them this way. The Pure is probably the best shaped wakeboard I have ever ridden and the Vibe has just enough flex in it to make it fun and not like a wet noodle like some flex/rail boards. By the way CWB has a flew board now. Here’s my setup. The CWB Pure 140 and the CWB Vibe 147. Size 11 CWB Marius Bindings.

get your learn on

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Here is the 2009 CWB Pure and CWB Torq bindings. Which come in a package on the cheap. I prefer to ride the Zeus’s and next year I will shred the lightest bindings on the planet. They are lighter than air so to put them on your board you actually have to hold them down. Ask Steve Bates. Get your learn on. I ride the Pure and it is awesome. It is the bottom shape from the 2003 Absolute with a different top shape. I rode this board back then and I still ride it now, for one reason. It is probably the best shape I have ever ridden or will ride. Sometimes gimmicks are just gimmicks.

any given tuesday

This is a picture my friendly Justin Doornbos posted on facebook. The picture was taken from his dock and the sketch a-frame was in front of my house. That’s me getting dirty like its 2002 on it. Those were the good days back then. No responsibility except being the best rider I could be. And all the time in the world to do it. Normally those days it was just Justin, his cousin Zach and me. We always started out the glassy days with a super fast tubing session behind the Sea Doo giving each other gnarly whips all around the lake on the glassyness. Then after that it was normally three or four set each day. It was so much easier back then. With only three of us. Nowadays at any given time there can be five to eight riders looking to shred.20090316_2661_137732355514_652820514_6143649_480271_njpg

What does hurt the most?

This is what hurts the most. This does.

What hurts the most

making the most

One thing in my trials as a career wakeboarder is that bigger is better. Wakes that is. Of course the bigger the wake the more fun right. I think so. Sometimes you are without a big wake though. And when that happens it comes to the attention that instead of being bummer or angry you should make the most of the situation. Occasionally I ride small wakes and although you can’t do all your crazy maneuvers on it you can still have fun and goof off. A small wake is the best thing to learn your basic. Learn some in to out three’s. Learn how to land blind switch and regular better. Goof off. Flip off rollers. Wakeboarding should always be fun. Even if your not on the perfect setup. Just push the boundaries whenever you can. Sorry for trying to get so introspective. Here’s one of my favorite shot’s of me ever. It’s just me goofing off but you can get the sense of it. Fun doesn’t have to be going huge remember. Spin to win hahaha. Shot by Spencer Smith! www.derekgrasman.wordpress.com
